GRANTS & LOANS

Utah COVID-19 Impact Businesses Grant Program

Description: The COVID-19 Impacted Businesses Grant Program, known as ‘Shop In Utah,’ is a grant program for businesses. This $25 million initiative provides grants to businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies must offer a discount, coupon, or another offer with an estimated value to their customers of at least 50% of the grant amount to qualify for the program. Because this grant is primarily for Utah’s small businesses, at least 75% of grant funds will go to Utah companies with 250 or fewer full-time employees. The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), at the Legislature’s request, administers the program.

Eligibility: 

  • Offer a discount or other financial incentive with an estimated value to customers of at least 50% of the grant amount

  • Have experienced a revenue decline related to COVID-19

  • Have been in operation on March 1, 2020

  • Have employees that are physically located in Utah

  • Establish that the use of funds will benefit the state economy

  • Not receive funding from the COVID-19 Cultural Assistance Grant program (‘Create In Utah;’ applications are open until Aug. 7)

Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)

Description: EIDL is designed to provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. EIDL proceeds can be used to cover a wide array of working capital and normal operating expenses, such as continuation to health care benefits, rent, utilities, and fixed debt payments.

Name: SMA Bridge Loan

Description: Allows small businesses who currently have a business relationship with an SBA Express Lender to access up to $25,000 quickly. These loans can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing

Utah COVID-19 Commercial Rental Assistance Program

Description: The COVID-19 Commercial Rental Assistance Program was created on April 30, 2020, when Gov. Herbert signed S.B. 3006. The program grants $40 million in rental relief to Utah small businesses that have lost revenue as a result of measures taken during the pandemic to minimize the public’s exposure to COVID-19.Although applications for this grant are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, the program is still well-funded. We encourage all eligible entities to apply for the Commercial Rental Assistance Program grant.

Utah Covid-19 PPE Support Grant Program

Description: The $5 million Safe In Utah initiative uses federal CARES Act funds as part of Utah’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. It includes grants for a business’s COVID-19 response that consists of the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE), implementation of workplace redesigns, additional signage, new technology solutions for distance working, and other items to comply with COVID-19 public health guidelines on safely returning employees to work.

Eligibility

  • Been in operation on March 1, 2020

  • Have employees that are physically located in Utah

  • Experienced a revenue decline related to the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Demonstrated that the business entity has incurred COVID-19-related expenses after March 1, or, certify that it will spend grant funds on COVID-19-related expenses

New Pattern Utah Grant 

Description: Applications are now open for #newpatternut, a grant & mentorship program for Black, female-led businesses in Utah. ✨⁠

#NewPatternUT is the first coalition to come out of the New Pattern movement, a combined effort from local groups Beta Boom, Womenpreneurs, Utah Black Chamber, and Sorenson Impact to help support Black women owners access the capital they need to grow their business. ⁠

The program includes up to $10k in grant funding, mentorship to support strategic use of capital, as well as admission to two Womenpreneurs programs including an intensive fundraising course as well as leadership development. ⁠

The Small Business Impact Grant (SBIG) 

Description: A COVID-19 relief program for small businesses in Salt Lake County funded with $40 million. Grants will be awarded through one-time payments up to $35,000 to eligible businesses that apply for funding.Completed applications from eligible businesses will be processed in the order they are received. The application will be open until funds are exhausted.

To be eligible, businesses must:

  • Be based in Salt Lake County

  • Employ fewer than 100 employees

  • Not have already received federal, state or local COVID-19 financial aid

  • Provide documents verifying your financial loss

  • Have operated prior to Jan. 1, 2020

  • Be primary industries impacted directly by public health order closures. Details on eligible industries can be found in the SBIG FAQ section below.

Redwood and South City Campus will move to a pre-box model. We ask that you accept the whole box to limit exposure risk. Patrons should follow CDC recommendations and maintain six feet from other patrons and Pantry staff.

If you are unable to make it during distribution hours, email bruinpantry@slcc.edu with requests. We may be able to leave a box for you to pick up somewhere on campus. (Must be a SLCC Student, please bring your ID card)

SUPPORT FOR THOSE OUT OF WORK

Special unemployment insurance for those affected by COVID-19.

The Small Business Administration has released $50 billion dollars for business assistance.  Salt Lake City business owners are now eligible to apply for low-interest loans. As a business owner, we strongly urge you to begin the application process as soon as possible.

We are providing cash assistance to restaurant workers, car service drivers, delivery workers, personal service workers and more who need the money they aren’t getting to survive.

 

JOBS

The United States Postal Service is looking to fill 80 positions in Utah and Idaho in light of coronavirus layoffs, according to a release.

The positions have hourly wages ranging from $16.21 to $18.56 and have a variety of shifts, including both indoor and outdoor work.

Those who are interested in applying will need to visit the USPS website for an overview of employment requirements, job descriptions, and hourly pay.

All applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent alien status. For carrier positions, applicants must have a valid driver’s license and two consecutive years of driving experience in the United States
